Offsetting the cost of Speech/Language Pathology sessions
National Disability Insurance Scheme
We are registered to provide assessment and therapy support to participants of this scheme. For more information about the NDIS, we suggest you start here.
Medicare
Private speech pathology sessions are not 'free' through Medicare and we do not bulk bill - and this may be in contrast to the advice you have received when speaking with your GP.
GPs can refer eligible children for speech pathology sessions under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan (previously known as Enhanced Primary Care plans). If your child has a CDM plan, please let us know when you contact us, as we will need to make sure that your GP has provided us with all the necessary paperwork.
These plans will let you claim up to 5 sessions per calendar year through Medicare.
Medicare's scheduled fee for a 20 minute session is $62.25, and Medicare will pay 85% of that amount - i.e. Medicare will rebate $52.95 per session. Medicare will not rebate more money if your session goes for longer than 20 minutes. In keeping with best practice, and based on more than 30yrs providing speech pathology services, we only offer appointments of 1hr in length for initial consultations, and subsequent consultations of 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on your individual situation.
When accessing Medicare rebates through a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan please note:
For more information about Medicare plans, please talk to your GP.
Private Health Funds
Speech/Language Pathology services can be rebated through certain ancilliary tables of private health funds. Talk to your health fund for further information.

- Your GPs "GP Management Plan" and subsequent "Team Care Arrangement" are generally valid for 2 years, where conditions are met
- these plans must be in place prior to a patient being able to access the CDM plan rebates.
- When you have used all the sessions allocated in the CDM plan, your GP can review progress and refer you for further sessions under a new CDM plan, with a maximum of 5 sessions available per calendar year (Jan-Dec).
