Speech Pathology at School
We provide weekly therapy services to select schools in our local area and are happy to try to accommodate your request to work with your child at school - with permission from the school’s principal and where appropriate space is available.
Appointment Confirmations
We will send an appointment reminder via text to you 1 day prior to your child’s scheduled speech pathology session. You will need to respond to this message by 8:30am on the day of the appointment as your response will act as consent for the session to go ahead.
If we do not receive a confirmation response from you, no session will be provided even if your child is at school as providing service without consent is against the policies of Communicating Kids Speech Pathology. Cancellation fees will apply if we have a regular appointment scheduled but have not received
confirmation from you.
Working Together
Therapy is most successful when it is a team effort. We always strive to provide appropriate and reasonable follow-up activities from our therapy and require that you engage in our therapy programme by making every possible attempt to act on these recommendations.
If you feel that you are not able to engage in the therapy process at this stage, or if your child is unable to attend therapy on a regular basis, we will discuss available options with you.
Payment Options
The following payment options for those students we see at school.
1. Use of our secure credit card storage system. (Private & NDIS self-managed clients)
Prior to sessions commencing at school, simply provide us with your credit card details. We input these details into our practice management software, Healthkit (an Australian system with ‘bank-level’ security and encryption), and process payments after each session your child attends. We then email you a receipt which includes all the necessary information needed to submit the claim to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, or to the NDIA if you are ‘self-managing’ your child’s NDIS funding.
2. Plan-Managed NDIS Participants
If your child is a ‘plan-managed’ NDIS participant, we will make claims on your behalf through the NDIA portal as per our service agreement.
Neither week-to-week direct deposits nor invoicing and payment after the session is offered as a payment option for students we work with outside of our clinic rooms.
Cancellation Policy
There is no charge for cancelling an appointment, so long as you let us know prior to 4pm the day before.
Notice provided after 4pm the day before your appointment will incur a fee of 50% of your session fee.
Sessions unattended without notice will incur a fee of 90% of your session fee.
If there is a school event on the day of your child’s session, you need to inform us as soon as possible. This is the responsibility of parents - not teachers.
